Senior Cat Can’t Resist a Snooze While Enjoying TV Time

The internet can’t get enough of Ella, a senior feline who couldn’t resist dozing off while engrossed in an episode of Scooby-Doo. Captured on TikTok by owner Emily Beck, the video shows Ella perched on her chair, apparently enjoying her TV time before finally giving in to sleep.

A Feline and Her Fascination with the Screen

Beck adopted Ella in 2019 when she was 10 years old and quickly discovered her pet’s penchant for television. “TV is what made us bond; it became her favorite activity to do with me,” Beck told Newsweek.

According to Beck, the stay-at-home circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic strengthened this bond, making TV time a cherished daily ritual for both of them.

Feline Sleep Patterns: An In-depth Look

Sleeping between 12 and 16 hours a day, cats have quite different sleep requirements compared to humans, who on average need only seven hours.

Cats, being predators, require ample rest to remain alert and focused for hunting. The sleep requirements can also differ based on the cat’s life stage, with kittens needing as much as 20 hours of sleep per day.

The Internet Reacts: Envy and Admiration Abound

Since its posting, the video has amassed nearly 650,000 views and over 152,000 likes, striking a chord with viewers who find Ella’s snoozing relatable and endearing.

The TikTok comments ranged from jokes about the cat’s enviable life to comparisons with elderly relatives. Comments included lines like “Oh to be a cat watching Scooby-Doo on my own cat-sized couch,” and “She’s like a little grandma. ‘I’m watching my stories.'”
