Ask a Vet

When you need answers to potentially life-and-death questions involving your best friend, it’s reassuring to know that the person on the other side of the screen actually knows what they’re talking about.

With that in mind, Shelterapet.com enlisted the help of practicing veterinarian Dr. Brooke Ramos to handle your most pressing health-related issues in Ask a Vet. She will personally review your question and provide you with her expert opinion in as much detail as possible.

Please note that, in order to provide the best advice possible, she’ll need any and all information you can provide, including detailed medical histories, a thorough description of the issue, and any relevant photographs. Also, the vets cannot prescribe medication, recommend dosages, or comment on over-the-counter medication over the internet.

Dr. Brooke Ramos completed her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University. She practiced for several years in Raleigh, NC prior to moving to Winston-Salem in 2007 to be closer to her family.

Her special interests include internal medicine, geriatric care, preventative care, and holistic medicine. She has always had a deep love for all animals and believes in treating each animal as if it were her own. She currently has one cat but plans to have multiple dogs, cats, and hopefully horses when space permits.
