Black Bull Terrier | Types,Price,Breeders…. (With Pictures)

A characteristic feature of a Bull Terrier dog is a variety of colors. Among them you can find a dog for every taste: white, black, two-color, tricolor, brindle, red.

The classic color of bull terriers is considered to be white – the most preferred and common color. However, dogs of other colors today can also take prizes at exhibitions and dog shows – if they meet the accepted standards.

The inheritance of color in dogs is complicated. There are 14 different positions on the chromosomes that contain genetic material that are believed to determine the color patterns of the dog’s coat; Of these 14, only 4 are important in determining the color of the coat in Bull Terriers.

This is because not all the color options displayed by other dog breeds are possible in Bull Terriers.

BLACK AND BROWN / TRICOLOR

This pattern is black with tan markings on the eyebrows, cheeks, chest, legs, and lower belly.

If there is a minimum of white, it is called  Solid Black and Brown; if it’s black and tan with white markings on the face; the neck; the chest; belly; feet, and tail, then it is called  Tricolor.

BLACK ATTIGED

This pattern is black with speckled markings on the eyebrows, cheeks, chest, lower legs, and bottom. The brindle color can be very variable.

If white has a minimal presence, it is called a Brindle Black solid but if there is black and brindle coloring with white markings on the face, neck, chest, belly, feet, and tail, then it is called  Brindle Black & White.

There is no such thing as black or black and white. They are black with brindle or tricolor with white; with more white in the color distribution.

This is easily verifiable when the specimen is reproduced.

The black Bull Terrier is ready to obey only a confident and decisive person. When adopting a dog of this breed, you need to be ready to constantly defend your right to leadership.

The Bull Terrier was bred for dog fights, therefore it’s endowed with lightning-fast reaction, courage, and fortitude. The dog is very stubborn and dominant.

The breed is characterized by natural zoo-aggression, and if a person is not sure that it can put the bull in its place, it is better not to keep other pets in the house.

At the same time, Bull Terriers are smart, playful, curious, and loyal to the owner

Attitude towards children

Bull Terrier and children can live in the same house, provided that the hierarchy is clearly built in the family and the dog understands that the child is at the highest level. In this case, the dog will become an excellent playmate and will calmly endure all the pranks.

However, the child should understand that the dog is not a toy and should not be teased or hurt.

On a note. Even a well-mannered bull can inadvertently harm a child. Overplaying, the dog may not calculate the grip. Therefore, the owners must ensure that the bull terrier and the child are never left alone.

Bull Terrier life expectancy

The life expectancy of the Bull terrier is 12 years.

Resistant / Robust

It is a solid and robust dog with a good life expectancy; however, due to its upbringing, it has a certain predisposition to different diseases.

Heat tolerance

This dog tolerates hot climates well, however, special care must be taken so that it does not suffer a heat stroke: its white and satin coat makes it prone to this problem. If you spend many hours outdoors, it is advisable to put a hypoallergenic sunscreen on the areas that have less hair.

Cold tolerance

In winter, this dog develops a layer of undercoat that minimally protects it from the cold, but does not allow it to remain outdoors for long. In winter it is advisable to shelter it before your walks, especially if you live in an area where temperatures are low.

Tendency to gain weight

This dog has a very good appetite, so special care will have to be taken in its rations; These should correspond to factors such as your age and level of physical activity. When the Bull Terrier gains weight, it can quickly lose the muscles that characterize it.

Common diseases

  • Skin problems (allergies, pyoderma)
  • Epilepsy
  • OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorders)
  • Renal insufficiency
  • Deafness
  • Heart problems
  • Patella luxation
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Lethal acrodermatitis of the Bull terrier (metabolic disease of genetic origin)

Black Bull Terrier Grooming & Maintenance

Cleanliness

Caring for this dog is fairly straightforward, due in part to its size and the shallowness of its coat. However, this does not mean that it does not require care.

It is advisable to use a special shampoo to wash it, since your skin is quite sensitive and you can suffer from allergies.

In addition, your eyes and ears will have to be checked periodically to rule out any allergies or infections.

Finally, it is advisable to cut your nails with suitable utensils. Since it has a fifth toe or spur on its back legs, it will be necessary to ensure that this part does not come into contact with the ground, as it could injure itself.

Hair loss

Weekly brushing is necessary to remove dead hair. It does not lose hair excessively, but it does so continuously.

Bull Terrier feeding

Because of its gluttony, this dog is prone to gaining weight. For this reason, it is essential to monitor their diet. An overweight Bull Terrier puppy will be more prone to heart disease and respiratory problems than a puppy that stays fit.

The cheapest and simplest option to provide you with a good diet is industrial food, preferably premium quality. However, a homemade diet is also possible if it is given the vitamins and minerals it needs, especially during its development.

As for the portions, one meal a day can be a good solution for this dog. Be careful not to give it too many treats or servings outside of its regular hours, as it can become an unhealthy habit for it.
