If you’re a cat owner, you’ve probably noticed how your fur baby can sit for hours, just looking out the window. Usually, they’re super concentrated, right? And sometimes, when they spot a bird or a bug, they start making those adorable ‘chirping’ noises.
So, there’s this TikToker, @maxiecoon, who’s also a cat mom. She recently posted a video tracking how her cat’s little “chats” with the outside world have evolved over time. You gotta see how her Maine Coon, Foxie, has basically become a pro at ‘talking’ through the years. Check it out below!
@maxiecoon Do you think he’s improving his talking/chirping skills?🤔 Before 2021 he was only sniffing loudly without making any other sounds, super weird 🙊 #catsounds #cutecat #mainecooncat #meowing

This Maine Coon sure has a lot to say! But, fun fact, it’s actually pretty normal for cats to chirp or chatter when they’re eyeing birds or other small creatures through the window.
This whole chattering thing is believed to be an instinctive reaction to the thrill of spotting potential prey. Some cat pros even think that the chirping is a cat’s way of copying the noises that birds or rodents make.
This behavior is usually seen more in younger cats or ones with a really strong hunting drive, but honestly, cats of all ages and personality types can get in on the action.

Some people reckon that the funny sounds cats make when they’re checking out critters outside come from the annoyance of not being able to chase after them.
So, it’s kinda like your fluffy buddy is venting out their frustration about not being able to go on a little hunting adventure. But no matter why cats chirp and chatter at birds and bugs outside, it’s a total fun to watch.
